YouGlish is a website that offers users practical examples of how particular words and phrases are spoken by youtubers in order to assist users improve their English pronunciation.

๐Ÿ‘€Why YouGlish? 

  • User-friendly. The design of the platform is quiet neat and clear, users don't need to spend much time learning how to use the tool.
  • Free. Sometimes it's necessary to consider the cost, but it's not a problem for this tool. You can browse the website with unlimited time until you acquire the skills.

๐Ÿ‘€How to use YouGlish? 

  1. Search phrases or words in the blank
  2. Choose the accent (All/US/UK/AUS)
  3. Click the button--say it

๐Ÿ‘€Any limitations? 

  • It may be not suitable for the language teachers to use in the class. It means that the teacher couldn't control the selection of materials on the platform. Therefore, students may come across some grammatical mistakes in the authentic material.
  • Students may be distracted by other things. In the other words, learners can possibly encounter some other new words when they look up the word or phrases they originally don't know.

  2. Hi, thank you for sharing. I try Youglish to search for some words with a lot of video results. The videos have diverse topics and some texts are difficult, which may lead to inconvenience to find appropriate videos for students to learn word pronunciation, especially young learners. How do you think about that? Do you think it good to be used by teachers in the classroom?
